The Youth Should Take the Lead in Sustainable Development.

Note: This is a guest post by Shen of WorldCreativeYouthForum.

The youth had been the most active forces in society. We have seen many revolution and changes that became successful because of the youth force behind them. The upcoming World Creative Youth Forum (WCYF) 2009 on May 5-10, 2009 in the Philippines seeks to unite the youth in order to mainstream Sustainable Development and enhance Education for Sustainable Development.

We are currently on the midterm of the United Nations Decade on Education for Sustainable Development and that is why UNESCO Jakarta Cluster headed by Dr. Hubert Gizen had officially supported and endorsed this event.

The World Creative Youth Forum is a call to the youth of the world to recognize as their future they must become not only the advocates of an equitable more just world but also be the true activists in this process to ensure their future”, says Dr. Nina Meyerhof of the Children of the Earth NGO and is one of the members of the WCYF Executive Committee.

David D’Angelo, Co-Chairperson of the Execom and International Council Member of Brotherhood of Destiny, Inc. (BROOD) says that despite the current hardships being experienced in realizing a forum like this, he is still hopeful that with the support of the youth and other advocates this event will indeed be very successful. Issues pertinent to our environment and Sustainable Development are the main focus of this forum and that includes Peace and Human Rights, Climate Change, Sustainable Lifestyle, Entrepreneurship and Education and Technology.
