On February 2, 1971, the Convention on Wetlands was signed on the shores of the Caspian Sea located at Ramsar , Iran. To celebrate the moment, the first World Wetlands Day was observed in 1997, the rest is history.
We have since took advantage of the increasing awareness to promote the protection and conservation of wetlands as an important part of our daily existence. This year, the WWD slogan is “Upstream-Downstream: Wetlands Connect Us all.”
